Two new agencies have joined the StreetWorks collaborative.
If you’re a homeless youth and need assistance locating services in Anoka or Dakota county, you can call us to get in touch with them.
Hope4Youth
Hope4Youth is a new drop in center located in Anoka. Teens living away from home can go there for essential resources like food, clothes, and hygiene products. They also have computer access.
Located in the old Milk Factory building, Hope4Youth is walking distance from the train station or downtown Anoka, or a short ride from AHS. They’re open Monday through Friday from 2 pm to 7 pm or weekends 1 pm to 4 pm. Call 763-323-2066 for more information.
Cenneidigh/KCQ, Inc.
If you’re in Dakota County and need housing, KCQ has services to help you. From their offices in Eagan, KCQ is now doing street outreach that covers all of Dakota County.
KCQ also has services for homeless youth living in Scott, Carver, and Washington Counties. Call 651-287-0956 for more information.
Outreach in the Twin Cities Suburbs
While you probably won’t see them on the street, hundreds of young people in the Twin Cities are lacking a stable place to call home. And the problem doesn’t end when you leave the urban core.
In suburbs like Burnsville, Anoka, Inver Grove Heights, Brooklyn Park, Bloomington and Coon Rapids, young people are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or living with friends temporarily.
Just a few years ago, there were very few options for getting help in theses situations. Some youth would need to travel to the cities just to find an emergency shelter or drop in center that could help.
With Hope4Youth and KCQ offering services to these youth, the StreetWorks collaborative can now expand outreach efforts to the suburbs. Dedicated outreach workers will connect with youth in these areas and help them find solutions to improve stability of their living situation.
